ABOUT RAMAKRISHNA MISSION

Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission are worldwide, non-political, non-sectarian spiritual organizations which have been engaged in various forms of humanitarian, social service activities for more than a century. Inspired by the ideals of renunciation and service, the monks and lay devotees of the Math and Mission serve millions of men, women and children, without any distinction of caste, religion or race, because they see the living God in them.

 

These twin organizations have set in motion a non-sectarian, universal spiritual movement which has been silently working for more than a hundred years to catalyze the spiritual regeneration of humanity.The motto of the twin organizations is Ātmāno mokṣārthaṃ jagata hitāya ca, “For one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world”. It was formulated by Swami Vivekananda. The headquarters of the organisations are at Belur, near Kolkata.

 

Ramakrishna Mission, Shivanahalli is a branch of Ramakrishna Mission.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

(an English Medium CBSE School for Classes 1 to 10)

 

Sri Ramakrishna Vidya Kendra, Shivanahalli, was started under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission, Bangalore. A new English Medium School Sri Sarada Devi Vidya Kendra was started in 2020. This school, now affiliated to CBSE, is located around 30 k.m. from Bangalore, surrounded by Bannerghatta National Park.

 

Swami Vivekananda’s dream of ‘Man-Making and Character- Building education’ where assimilation of ideas integrated with actualizing the potential of every child, is being attempted here in the school. The school aims to produce morally upright, emotionally stable, self-reliant, self-confident and intelligent individuals. The school caters to students from Shivanahalli and its neighbouring villages / hamlets including the nearby towns.

 

The school lays emphasis on a set of ‘Core Values’ which are inculcated and fostered in a supportive environment that respects the individual and the diversity they bring in. The school provides inputs to students to focus on their physical, emotional, cultural and moral development apart from their academic learning.
