About the School:

Sri Sarada Devi Vidya Kendra is part of Ramakrishna Mission, Shivanahalli nestled in the outskirts of Bengaluru; adjacent to the forests of Bannerghatta National Park. Our vision is to create a learning environment that aligns with Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of man-making and character building. Our school aims to promote a mode of education through which “character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.”

Ramakrishna Mission is a philanthropic, volunteer organisation founded by Swami Vivekananda on May 1, 1897. The Shivanahalli center of the mission was started in the year 1983 focusing on an integrated approach towards development in the hamlets around Bannerghatta forest near Bangalore. The mission conducts extensive work in the areas of education, health care, rural development, tribal welfare, environment conservation and culture. The Mission bases its work on the motto of the organization Atmano Mokshartham Jagad-hitaya Cha. Translated from Sanskrit it means For one’s own salvation, and for the good of the world. In Shivanahalli, the mission has a hospital, a Kannada and an english medium school, a vocational training center among other programs.
